DeHaan Back Up to Speed and in the Main at Daytona

Recapped By: Carl Hein

Team Blackfoot Honda Rider Doug DeHaan is feeling better and his results showed it this weekend in Daytona, Florida. Doug stated, I currently have no problems with the knee and felt back in control of the bike. Last week (in New Orleans) I was just riding and getting my timing back. Im again having fun and as I said I felt good.

Doug qualified out of his semi race and his account is as follows: The track was really rough! It seemed to always to want to kick you over the bars. For me this lead to a one line track. In the semi I was really battling with my current teammate JSR (Jean-Sebastien Roy) and last years Canadian Nationals teammate Jason The Iron Man Thomas. Like I said we were really battling for that last transfer spot. Fortunate for us three riders Keith Johnson bailed in front of us and we all made the main. JSR was fourth, myself fifth and Jason was sixth.

The main went well. I finished 17th. It feels good to be back in the main after these early season injuries. This week Im practicing in Florida at John Starlings place (JSR Mechanic). Looking to be in the main again in Minneapolis. One thing I will say is that with my rehab of my knee I put in extra work on my legs and now my conditioning and strength is better than ever. Im quite stoked.
